Import requirements & restrictions
Import licensing required
Any product incorporating Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, RFID, cellular, or other wireless radio modules requires mandatory certification before import or use in Malaysia. Many electrical products separately require a Certificate of Approval (CoA) from the Energy Commission (Suruhanjaya Tenaga), paired with an ST-SIRIM label from SIRIM Berhad, both required before the product can be manufactured, imported, sold, or advertised. SIRIM certification is otherwise voluntary unless a specific regulatory agency mandates it for a given product (e.g. ordinary apparel does not require it).
