Import prohibited
Import of used/second-hand clothing into Indonesia is banned under Appendix II (Part IV) of Minister of Trade Regulation No. 40/2022 (amending Regulation No. 18/2021 on Prohibited Export and Import Goods), justified on health/environmental grounds and to protect the domestic textile industry -- penalties up to 5 years' imprisonment and IDR 5 billion in fines for importers ("2022-01-01" below is a year-level placeholder for the regulation's year, not a confirmed exact date). Other categories of used goods are not outright banned but require prior Ministry of Trade approval plus an official certificate from the Director General of Foreign Trade.
