• Import permit required

  Sources disagree on the general used-vehicle age limit for import into the Bahamas -- some cite under 10 years (with special Ministry of Finance permission required for anything older), others cite as low as 4 years -- verify the current limit with Bahamas Customs before relying on either figure. Taxi/livery-car/omnibus-franchise holders may qualify for a special exemption allowing vehicles up to 3 years old. All imported vehicles must go directly to the Road Traffic Department for inspection and licensing on arrival.
