Suriname liberalized its import system in 1999, removing licensing for most products, but published a "negative list" of goods that still require an import license -- used vehicles are on this list. Used cars must be under 8 years old; used buses under 15 years old; used trucks have no age restriction. Right-hand-drive vehicles are permitted; no specific pre-import inspection is required.
