• Import prohibited

  Import of used goods into Iran is banned unless explicitly permitted under a special regulation. Import of incandescent light bulbs over 40 watts is prohibited, per Iran's own energy-efficiency policy.

  Iran National Standards Organization (INSO) / Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade

• Import licensing required

  Regulated products imported into Iran require a Certificate of Conformity (COC) from Iran's National Standards Organization (INSO); some categories (pharmaceuticals, electronics, automobiles among them) additionally require sector-specific permits from the relevant regulatory agency. This entry describes only Iran's own domestic import regime -- it deliberately excludes third-country (e.g. US/OFAC) sanctions on trade with Iran, which are a different country's restriction, not Iran's own rule.
